407 Training Plan
+ GTE Report
The training plan and the genuine temporary entrant statement, written by the same hand so nothing in one contradicts the other.
Two documents, one story
The training plan is written about the trainee, in the third person, and sets out what the business will teach them. The GTE statement is written as the trainee, in the first person, and sets out why they are coming temporarily and what takes them home. They are read together.
When they are prepared separately the contradictions are small and fatal: a plan that runs twenty-four months beside a statement that speaks of returning after a year, a role described one way by the employer and another by the trainee, a home-country position named in one document and absent from the other. Ordered together they are drafted together, from one intake.
What the GTE statement covers
Circumstances in the home country - employment, family, property, financial and community ties
The purpose of the stay and how the training fits the trainee’s career
The value of the training on return, and the position it leads to
Immigration history, including every Australian visa previously held and compliance with its conditions
Any previous refusal or cancellation, addressed rather than left for the delegate to find
Incentives to return, stated specifically rather than asserted

Common questions
Is the GTE statement signed by the trainee?
Yes. It is their statement in their own voice, and it should read like it. We write from their answers on the form, not from a template.
What if the trainee has had a visa refused before?
Disclose it. The form asks, and the statement addresses it directly. A refusal the delegate finds for themselves is far more damaging than one explained up front.
Can I order the GTE statement on its own?
Yes - see the 407 Genuine Temporary Entrant page. It is A$550 where the training plan already exists.
Does the trainee need to be offshore?
No. The form asks where they are now and the statement is written accordingly, because the considerations differ.
How detailed do the home-country ties need to be?
Specific. "Close to my family" carries no weight. A named employer holding a position open, a mortgage, dependants, a business - those do.
